Environment Policy
Hospitality is one of the most wasteful industries in the modern world. Please help us to reduce our, and your, impact.
Waste and recycling
- We aim to recycle as much waste as possible – please put all your dry recycling in the landing bins – paper, card, aluminium, glass and plastic.
- If you know there are certain items on the menu you won’t want for the whole of your stay – please tell us and we won’t cook them!
Towels and Laundry
- The hotel industry wastes millions of pounds and gallons of water every year washing towels that are barely used – if you really need clean towels during your stay, pop them in the bath or shower tray. Towels hung up will not be changed, simply tidied and hung on the towel rail.
Plastic bottles
- Unless you’ve been hiding under the stairs for the last two years, you’ll be aware of the issues the planet faces with single use plastic – in particular plastic water and drinks bottles. We have some of the best quality tapwater in Europe here in Cumbria – why not buy a refillable bottle from one of the many outdoor shops in town and fill it from our water bowser in the dining room?
Heating
- Every room has radiators fitted with thermostats – these are generally set at 3 – if it’s too warm, turn them down, if you’re too cold, turn them up!
